2013 癸巳 Annual Forecast: The Quickie

by Jan 10, 2013Annual Outlook23 comments

So usually I have a long treatise on the subject matter of the annual forecast – I like to make things complicated, yes I know. Anyway, this time around, I thought I would start off with the easy, straightforward version for the non-technically inclined readers. No doubt the contents of this forecast will shock the casual readers because it contains neither recommendations for portions, portents or requires slaughtering of chickens or scattering of entrails. It also apparently makes no reference to the BaZi of the year (see below).

BaZi for 2013

Briefly I’ll explain why. The BaZi for the year captures the influences of the elements on a GLOBAL scale. The average human being on the other hand, does not often engage in activities that have global influence. The president of the United States on the other hand, is someone whose actions have a global influence. So the Global effect caused by the change in energies to the year of the Water Snake would be relevant to him. But for the average person, it’s about as relevant as this year’s haute couture on the catwalks of Paris. You are much better off looking at the influence of the Annual Pillar which is Gui Si on your personal BaZi chart.

And although it’s not terribly relevant, the obsessive minded may want to note the transition date to the year of the Water Snake is 4 February 2013, Early Rat Hour.

So, to keep it simple and straight-forward for the non-technically inclined BaZi types who are reading this entry, we’ll stick to the tried and tested ‘Winners, Losers, Uncertain Regard’ categories of the past.

DISCLAIMER: None of the contents of this blog post are to substitute the informed professional opinion of a BaZi consultant, interpreting a BaZi chart in full. For best results, a professional consultation is always recommended (not necessarily with me but you get the point). Finally, I make no commitment or obligation to cover all the Day Masters and you may read this entire segment and find nothing that applies to you. in which, please return to the start of the Disclaimer.

WINNERS

Since the Snake King rules in 2013, all those with Year Pillars that have an affinity to Gui Si will obviously have a slightly advantageous year. Accordingly, those born in the year of the Rooster 酉 and Ox 丑 will have first dibs at any positive outcomes from the year. Those with Ox in the year or the Day Pillar will certainly be happy to see something positive after the Dragon year. However, if you have used the Dragon year well (Destruction CAN be positive), then the Snake year heralds in the opportunity to go forth with a clean slate. Roosters didn’t have too bad a year in 2012 and so will just see continued smooth path in 2013. Extra points if you have both – hello Three Harmony Combination! That means 2013 will give rise to some unique opportunities for you, depending on your Day Master.

After the Rooster and the Ox, the next beneficiary of 2013 will be those born in the year of the Monkey 申. This is because Monkey and Snake is a Combination.

Everyone else not born in the above years can still claim some benefits if they have a Ox, Rooster or Monkey in the Month or Year Branches.

Of course, the golden rule is that you DO NOT HAVE a PIG 亥  Earthly Branch in the chart. If you do, you just dropped into the Uncertain Regard category.

This is all moot and highly generic without taking into account the Day Master. Obviously, Ding Fire and Bing Fire Day Masters will see benefits from a financial standpoint, especially if they have a partial Three Harmony Combination present in their chart that is completed by the Snake. (meaning, you have Ox and Rooster…badabing – here comes the Snake = Three Harmony Combination complete!). Ox-Rooster-Snake is a Metal Frame Combination and metal represents the wealth star for Fire Day Masters Bing/Ding. The opportunity is likely to arise from a partnership situation (ie: public listing, business venture, collaboration) and will be a deal that gives you a chance to make your name.
Ladies looking to get married who are either a Jia Wood or a Yi Wood Day Master will also inch closer to the matrimonial finish line this year, but only if they already have an Ox or Rooster present in their BaZi chart. If you are a Jia Wood or Yi Wood singleton with an Ox or Rooster in your chart, a small window of opportunity has opened – get on it, girl. Of course, the strong Officer Star in the year for Jia or Yi Wood ladies with Ox or/and Rooster in their charts also denotes opportunities for a new job or a promotion, especially following some spectacular work or great ideas from you this year that showcase your creativity and problem solving skills. Jia and Yi Wood Males will also have similar positive opportunities for job advancement or to change jobs/advance in their career in 2013.
LOSERS
Obviously, the first group of individuals who are going to face problems in 2013 are those born in the year of the Pig, as the Pig and Snake do not like each other. Going against the Grand Duke of the year is always not a good thing and so if you are born in the Snake Year (or you have a Snake 巳 in your chart, tread carefully). As it is travelling stars that are involved in the clash, spontaneous travel (meaning, any trip that is not planned) is extremely unwise. If you must do that, make sure you have travel insurance and be prepared for some bumps along the way. If you don’t have a Pig but you have a partial Three Harmony combination of the Goat 未 and the Rabbit 卯 you indirectly have a Pig-Snake Clash problem as well, so those with Goat and Rabbit (TOGETHER) should be cautious in 2013.
Extra minus points if you have not just a Pig but also a Monkey or Tiger  寅 or both in your chart. With the completion of the Punishments, this is going to be an accident prone year for you and it is not advisable to travel spontaneously. The presence of the full set of punishments also usually means a tumultuous year with much self-questioning and needless mental circular dialogue that would make the World Trade Talks look like a record breaker.
Xin Day Masters with a Pig will experience the Direct Officer see Hurting Officer problem, which typically denotes lots of squabbles and opposition from above and below. It’s a good year to perhaps consider going back into the jewellery box and just being a pretty face on display. In the absence of extenuating circumstances, let 2013 be the year where you say less, and do more. Opinions are best expressed in private and to small groups, and whatever you do, never say I TOLD YOU SO.
Strong Water Day Masters (irregardless of whether Gui or Ren) who have a Monkey, Ox and/or Rooster in their charts will benefit least from the year (and yes, it’s CONDITIONAL on having Monkey, Ox and/or Rooster or all three). The Three Harmony combination brings forth the Resource Star but also strengthens the Day Master needlessly. Broadly speaking the presence of the Resource Star denotes a great deal of hesitation, mental circular conversations and general lack of direction as it were. Which means an aimless year for the strong Water Day Master’s potentially (KEY: only if you have Monkey, Ox and or Rooster or all three).
If however you don’t have Ox or Rooster or Monkey, then it may be a positive year for you financially due to the presence of the Wealth Star in the form of Bing 丙 Fire in the year Branch. However, the presence of the Gui Water on top means it is a zero sum gain at the end of the day – money in, money out as it were.
Strong Fire Day Masters without the benefit of the Ox and/or Rooster will also not have such a good year due to the presence of the Rob Wealth/Friends Star, which is unfavourable. If there is also a Pig present in the chart, it will exacerbate the effect.
UNCERTAIN REGARD
If you have no Pig, Tiger, Monkey, Ox, Rooster, and no partial Three Harmony Wood Combination
that brings about an Indirect Pig, (and for this to count, you have to not have ANY of these in your Luck Pillar either) then you fall into the Uncertain Regard category. The disadvantage of this category is that you have nothing to connect you to the year, which means, any goodies brought by the Annual Grand Duke Mr Water Snake bypass you. You will be lucky if some crumbs drop on your lap. The advantage however is that none of the crap in the year hits you either. How therefore the year turns out largely depends on WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
If for some reason, the Dragon year has been difficult and you are in the midst of shit creek, you have no paddle but neither is there a waterfall right ahead. So if you are willing to help yourself, you might get somewhere. If on the other hand, you are in a neutral situation – neither good nor bad – then it won’t get worse, but if you do nothing, it’s not going to get better either.
Technically, charts which contain both positive and negative branches for the year (ie: one Ox, one Pig, One Rooster, One Tiger, etc etc) also fall into the uncertain regard category. This is because although there are some positive connections to the year, there are also negative ones. The typical outcome of such situations is that someone tries to help you, but you stupidly tell them to get lost thinking you can do it on your own, and the end result is NO PROGRESS. Equally however, you can attempt something stupid, and then find due to the help of someone, it turns out to be gold and not the sow’s ear. Hence, uncertain regard.

Why is rooster/ ox needed in the first place? Or how does it lesson the effect of the unfavorable elements of RW/Friend stars? Thank you.

It was never written as “needed”.

    Hi BaziQueen,

What if the Strong fire day masters have a 10-year luck pillar that is xin rooster?

The chart itself has snake but no rooster or ox.
    Thank you

There would be a fighting to combine situation with the double Snake but you’d still get some benefits from the Rooster in the LP for sure.

Does having the pig cancel out most benefits of having ox or rooster in your chart or lp?
“Of course, the golden rule is that you DO NOT HAVE a PIG 亥 Earthly Branch in the chart. If you do, you just dropped into the Uncertain Regard category.”
So everything cancels out? The benefits of any half combo or full in chart and any found in lp? Or do we still enjoy the benefits, like you we’re telling Kathy (with rooster in her lp)

    How about seasonal combination (summer)?

Please read what was written. “You drop into the Uncertain Regard category”. Also, the purpose of the post is not to provide exact specifics to every case. If I did that, it would never end.

    Dear BaziQueen,

Why do you consider date of February 4 midnight as start of the solar year instead of February 3, 16:14 – the exact moment when the Sun reaches Aquarius 15° on its path?

That’s what it says is the Lap Chun transition in the 10,000 calendar.

I’ve checked different sources and they unambiguously show that the 15° of Aquarius (start of solar term called Li/Lap Chun or Beginning of Spring) is on February 3, 16:14 UTC. Is it possible that it was mistyped (or somehow miscalculated) in the calendar?

I think you should take this up with the calendar printers then or argue with someone with the technical knowledge. I just follow the calendar as it is printed and since time immemorial, lap chun has been february 4th.

My aunt’s daymaster is Gui Si and Annual pillar is Gui Si and born in Jia Yin month, and going through LP Geng Shen – should she be extra extra careful this year and not travel nor make big decisions this year – too many Gui Si

    Many thanks

    Dear BaziQueen,
You wrote “Everyone else not born in the above years can still claim some benefits if they have a Ox, Rooster or Monkey in the Month or Year Branches.” How a Monkey in the Day Pillar? Does it relate, too? And if Si Shen is also a destruction does it mean the combo (relationship?) might be short live and end not so well? Thanx

Monkey in Day PIllar also connects with Snake Year yes. Yes, Combo-Destruction means exactly that.

It was interesting reading the article, but I wonder about my fortunes.I am Gui Ox Daymaster, Gui Ox Hourmaster, Wood Monkey Monthmaster, and Metal Monkey Yearmaster.
Fire (and Wood) are my lucky elements. Howz it gonna be for me in 2013?
(Jan 2013 was bad. Feb 2013 has begun with problems already)
Even though I have only Ox and Monkey signs in my four pillars, and they are supposed to be the lucky ones in 2013?

    Dear BaziQueen

I read your bazi forecast 2013 and wondering if you could reply me:

    I have ox+monkey+rooster (3 harmony combination)in hour,day,month.
But Ding in month and Bing in year NOT in the Day master you have mentioned.
Conclusion: Am under in the Metal Frame Combination?

    Much appreciate your kind reply

Your combination this year is considered somewhat imperfect because the Monkey interferes with the combination of Ox-Rooster-Snake (fighting to combine with single Snake). The combination is therefore considered ‘not clear’. So the outcome is mixed. Also depends on your DM – any DM other than Fire or maybe Earth will not benefit from the above.

    Amazing article. Pls advise

    DM = Yang Earth

There are Ox, Monkey, Rooster, Monkey

Can these be considered under 3 Harmony or Frame Combination

Depends on the order and sequence of the four, and whether or not the Luck Pillar interferes in any way. But since you have double Monkey, your 3 Harmony won’t be successfully completed because there is a competing Branch looking to interact with the Snake.
