OVERVIEW:

THE ART OF BAZI is a unique Socratic method seminar that aims to enhance and improve the consulting accuracy and practical skills of BaZi students and practitioners by exposing students to ideas and concepts how to think around the subject of BaZi in a holistic 360 degree manner. The purpose of this seminar is to enable to students to understand how to self-develop their interpretation skill further and demonstrate how to achieve a deeper understanding of BaZi through alternative and non-linear thinking methods to understanding the subject of BaZi. In essence, the seminar will not to give you fish, but to show you how to fish. Thus, instead of giving you techniques or methods for interpretation, the seminar will focus on enabling you to understand HOW the interpretations are derived, and how armed with this knowledge, you can independently enhance your understanding and accuracy of BaZi.

FACILITATOR

BERNICE LOW is an independent Bazi consultant. She holds a Module 4 certification from the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics and was formerly a Senior BaZi Consultant of Yap Global Consulting and BaZi M1 and M2 instructor with the Mastery Academy.

SEMINAR METHODOLOGY

This is a Socratic method seminar so a great deal of the learning will be done as a result of class participation. Participants are expected to answer questions from the facilitator, but questions from fellow participants. Similarly, participants are expected to be able to defend their position or answers under questioning from the facilitator and students in the class. There will be no spoon-feeding of shortcuts or magic techniques in this class – rather, the purposes of the class is to show participants how to THINK BAZI and thus, develop their own techniques and ideas for interpretation. Since BaZi reading in itself is a communicative skill, the Socratic seminar approach is an extremely effective method in which to learn BaZi fast. The seminar will also emphasize practicum, wherein students will analyse charts in class with the facilitator’s assistance.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR:

  • BaZi practitioners who would like some practical insights into improving their consulting accuracy
  • Students of BaZi looking to gain greater insight into the practical aspects of BaZi consulting

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Mastery Academy BaZi M2 certification (M3 and M4 will also find this challenging) or any equivalent qualification.

SEMINAR AGENDA

DAY ONE

AM SESSION: Thinking BaZi

This session is designed to expose you to different methods of thinking when it comes to interpreting BaZi charts. This will be a mixture of theory + big idea/concepts, all designed to enable you to understand how you need to think in order to be able to interpret BaZi. It will focus on getting you to also understand WHY you have challenges interpreting charts, and how to become more flexible in your approach to BaZi. Some of the topics that will be explored in this session will be:

  • Understand the challenges you face as a student/consultant. Before you can advance, you first need to understand, what is holding you back
  • Removing the myth that the secret to BaZi interpretation lies in knowing as many ‘techniques’ as possible. Guess what – techniques can be self-developed through a combination of personal research and observation!
  • Shifting between perspectives – how to appreciate the big and small picture, and when to look at the big picture and when to look at the small picture
  • Character is not just Key, it is King – why character is an overwhelmingly important aspect of BaZi and how to improve your character understanding/observation skills.
  • Evidence based Bazi – borrowing ideas from the corporate world and other disciplines into BaZi.
  • How to ‘discover’ in BaZi – there is no single book out there that holds the answers to everything in BaZi. As such, a good consultant is someone who can also engage in self-discovery.
  • The Art of Extrapolation – how to make sure your conclusions are better than just educated guesses, and to forecast with accuracy.

1.15pm-2pm – LUNCH

PM SESSION: Practicum

This will be a free-flowing session where students can put forth their own charts for discussion, as well as discuss cases provided by Bernice.

DAY TWO

AM SESSION: Finding the BaZi Solution

The focus of this session will be to show you how to come up with solutions, as derived from your technical understanding of BaZi. Many students understand the technicalities of a chart and are able to derive the elemental solution. However, when it comes to implementing or being creative with the solution, this is where the challenge arises. This session will focus on showing students how to think not just about the proble, but around a problem, and demonstrate the thinking method involved in coming up with and designing solutions for clients based on their BaZi.

Some of the topics that will be discussed in this session include:

  • The significance of context: how the situational factors influence/limit solution implementation
  • Developing viable solutions but also, coming up with ‘creative’ solutions that make use of multi-disciplinary understanding such as psychology and how to motivate people.
  • Character is Key and King – working with what you’ve got vs what you might want to have in a client

1.15pm-2pm – LUNCH

This will be a free-flowing session where students can put forth their own charts for discussion, as well as discuss cases provided by Bernice.
