Why free BaZi Advice is a Bad Idea

Since I’m the person usually on the receiving end of a request for free advice, you’d obviously expect me to say this.

Personally, I have no issues with the GIVING free advice.
The problem I have is with people not TAKING the free advice.

I’m assuming you’re asking because you want to know. You want to know because either you need a solution to your problem, or you simply want an explanation for the situation, and then maybe some pointers or suggestions as to how to resolve the situation.

So it annoys the heck out of me when people ask for the advice, and then disregard it.

Now you might be thinking: hey but wait a minute – the person surely has right to ignore your advice? After all, children routinely ignore the advice of their parents all the time and thunder hasn’t come down and smote them yet.

Okay, so if you ignore my advice, you’re not going to be ‘pei lui pek’ as the Chinese say (English translation: struck down by lightning by the Gods ala Greek tragedy).

But let’s face it, why are these people asking me? Obviously because I know something they do not know and have the benefit of knowledge that they do not know.

You would not ask a layperson for advice on your MEDICAL problem. Or your LEGAL problem. Or your MENTAL problem. You would ask specialists in this field their advice because their opinion is an informed one. It has the benefit of a certain amount of knowledge and understanding

But ask folk in the medical, legal or shrink fields (or my favourite one – plastic surgeons!) and they will not be able to give you an exact answer or solution on the spot. This is because everyone has diagnostic tools that they need to use. The doctor needs to run tests. The lawyer needs to know you’re not lying or leaving out important information (and he can only be sure you will tell the truth when you’ve paid up because then there is a client confidentiality situation activated).

Plastic surgeons can’t tell you EXACTLY what they can/will/need to do, until they’ve seen you NAKED.

Tell me what you dont like about yourself

"Tell me what you don't like about yourself"

But the BaZi consultant doesn’t need to run tests. They simply need to have your chart. And sometimes even from just the year of birth, you can give the person a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to their question. For example, if a person born in the year of the Horse asks me: should I change jobs? I would say ‘Generally no, as it’s not a good year for you this year or next year’. Of course, I would need to see their chart to CONFIRM the advice, but generally, I can safely say no.

And the BaZi consultant can pretty much give you definitive advice. Rarely are there ifs and buts. If you have a problem, we can give you a solution.

Paying clients can chose to ignore a proposed solution or advice. After all as a consultant, I would have given them a full picture of the situation and they know and understand the perils of their choice against the advice. In short, if you plan to step on dog poo, don’t be surprised if it smells.

But freebie askers invariably do this: they IGNORE your advice. And because it was a freebie, no explanation is usually given or alternatives explored. So the person ignores the advice truly at their peril. Caveat emptor indeed. Then after they have ignored your advice and gotten themselves into trouble, they come moaning to you about their situation WANTING MORE FREE ADVICE.

So they can once again ignore it.

Even worse than ignoring the advice, is LYING about what is actually going on. Obviously, you’re not going to get naked, if you have no reason to right? So most people leave out important details or details they’d rather not mention, in the hope that the advice will be over-arching enough to cover them

Not a smart idea. And let’s face it, EVERYBODY lies, unless they’re paying for the advice. Even then.

I speak from being a personal astrologer to several friends who I advice on a regular basis, since they are friends. They have a penchant for ignoring advice. And then it’s hard to avoid schendenfraude.

That’s why I don’t give FREE advice.
